Isabel Ong

Isabel Ong is a violinist and educator based in Buffalo, NY. In addition to performing in numerous venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, National Sawdust, Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), ARTPARK and the Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre, Isabel has also had the opportunity to premier pieces by many of today’s composers: Leilehua Lanzilotti, Luke Carlson, Amir Bitran, Juan Campoverde, Saad Haddad, Dan Langa, Xinyang Wang and others.


Sharing music as a way to create impact within the community is also a mission that Isabel strives for through the performances of solo and collaborative projects. She performed at ASAP’s (Advocates for Southeast Asians and the Persecuted) fifteenth anniversary celebration

honoring their non-profit service of spreading higher education and implementing healthier and cleaner living conditions for the people of Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Isabel performed on the Taiwan Indigenous Television Channel 16 and was also asked by Aletheia

University of Tamsui, Taiwan to perform in their 130th anniversary concert providing a mixed recital of Western Classical music and classically-rendered Chinese folk pieces. Isabel was also featured a few times on Buffalo Toronto Public Media WNED-TV’s Classical Live on Stage!

Series to feature works by local composer Caroline Mallonee, Jesse Montgomery, and Imogen Holst, as well as premiering works with new-music ensemble, Liminal Space Ensemble.


In addition to performing, Isabel has given masterclasses in Taiwan, South Carolina, and all around Western New York. During the summer, Isabel travels to Vermont to teach at Point CounterPoint, a chamber music camp for middle and high-school students. Isabel is currently on faculty at SUNY Fredonia, manages the Buffalo Chamber Music Society, and is also the Advanced Ensemble Coordinator and a Teaching Artist for the non-profit organization, Buffalo String Works. Isabel holds performance degrees from Juilliard and the University of South Carolina (BM, MM, DMA).
