Flutist Barry J. Crawford is a member of the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, Talea Ensemble, Poetica Musica, Ensemble Meme, Ensemble Pi, and is principal flute of the
Strathmere Festival Orchestra He has performed in the internationally-recognized music festivals Mostly Mozart, the Lincoln Center Festival, June in Buffalo, the Spoleto Festival, the Pablo Casals Festival in San Juan, PR, the Bergen Festival in Norway, and the International Music Festival in Istanbul. He has premiered hundreds of new works with ensembles across the U.S. and has been a guest soloist in Boston’s Symphony Hall, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall, and Chicago’s Symphony Center. Featured on the McGraw-Hill Young Artist’s Showcase both as a soloist and chamber player, he has also performed as a soloist for Lincoln Center’s Great Performers series. He has served on the faculties of the University at Buffalo and Sarah Lawrence College and is part of the performing/coaching staff at the Composers Conference at Wellesley College. Mr. Crawford studied with Tara Helen O’Connor at Purchase College Conservatory of Music, Samuel Baron at Stony Brook University and Judith Mendenhall at the Mannes College of Music. He has recorded for Albany and Decca Records.
